my son is two years old. almost two and a half (on feb 16th). being a mom has been hard since day one. but nothing has been harder than taking away the pacifier. i'm probably over-analyzing the entire situation, as i do everything. i just can't though. i regret daily ever giving it to him in the first place. why can't i be like all these "perfect" mom's out there who never introduced the pacifier to their child. though i guess if i were them i'd never have thousands of the problems i faced in the first two years of his life...you know, they're perfect and all -- but that's another whole blog post ;) anyway...I've been "getting rid" of the boonie (as my son calls it - don't ask bc I don't have a clue) since he turned a year old. yep...a whole year and a half ago. and still, to this day, i'm an epic fail.
everyone says..."just throw it away and never look back". umm, sounds easy enough. except my child is ADDICTED to that thing just as much as i'm addicted to chocolate. i feel like i'm ripping his only security item away and it just breaks my heart. he cries and says "peeeeeas mama" (very overdramatic but still so heartbreaking). i dunno, guess i'm just a pushover.
i feel in my heart that he'll get rid of it when he's ready..but when will that be? I mean, i can't send him to kindergarden with the ugly thing in his mouth! so what do i do? just stop stressin' over the miniscule things in life and let him have the thing or do i be a royal bitch of a mom and snatch the thing away and "never look back"?
decisions, decisions...but for now, i'm going to lay on the couch with my kid and watch mickey mouse...yes, he has a binky and *gasp* he's watching television instead of doing intellectual activities or digging a hole outside...shoot me ;)
